posts about project 52.

here’s my project 52 shot for the thirtyninth week. the topic was

zeichen der zeit.

and another photo from glarus, also taken in schwanden. from the beginning of this year on, the twentyfour (more or less) small cities in glarus were divided into three municipalities, among them glarus süd, of which schwanden is a part. having a population of less than 10,000, glarus süd is not exactly close to being metropolitan. nonetheless, some people might have a different opinion on this. and maybe eventually, we will all be broothers. whatever this is. please click the photo to get a larger version:

here’s my project 52 shot for the thirtyseventh week. the topic was

frischluft.

there is nothing better than fresh air, coming straight out of a factory’s chimney. happy coughing.

here’s my project 52 shot for the thirtysixth week. the topic was

märchenhaft.

a quite obvious choice for this topic was something from a certain night near ivalo in the finnish lappland. the scenery was so beautiful, just so fantastically, with the fog creeping around, at low level, not too dense, while the mostly clear sky depicted auroras. this shot has no aurora – i already used that here – but fits in my opinion even better to this week’s topic. i enhanced the colors a bit in gimp. please click the photo to get a larger version:

technical details: 25s, f/8, 50mm, iso 3200. modified using gimp.

the project 52 topic for the thirtyfifth week would be shabby chic. i decided to skip this one as well.

here’s my project 52 shot for the thirtyfourth week. the topic was

tatort.

a mouse. killed from behind, while being trapped. gone to water. already dead, probably for some days. it’s hard to say who killed it. was it the boat owner, by leaving the boat there? was it the rain, by filling up the boat? was it suicide, as the mouse entered the boat by free will? or was it chased there? are there any witnesses? any alive ones, even?

here’s my project 52 shot for the thirtyfirst week. the topic was

schatzkiste.

i’ve had several ideas for this topic, and during the last week started planning something more concrete, until i saw something better yesterday while being in schwanden. while walking up some stairs, we stumbled over a piece of wood in the concrete floor, which said “vorsicht geheime falltür!” – “attention secret trapdoor!”. beneath it was a dark hole, probably some kind of ventilation shaft. probably the hole was covered by a piece of wood to make sure no-one stumbles, and some prankster added the text. anyway, to me, it looks like a fantastic treasure “chest” :-) please click the photo to get a larger version:

here’s my project 52 shot for the thirtyth week. the topic was

the big blue.

when i read this topic, i had to think of the morteratsch glacier, especially the dark blue grotto which is visible on some of the photos i took there. but when this topic was announced, my trip to the morteratsch glacier was already three days ago, and we are not supposed to take archive photos. besides that, i had no perfect photo from that grotto. so i waited, until i visited the next glacier: the rhône glacier. as opposed to this view of the glacier, the photo for this topic had to be taken inside the glacier, where it is deep blue. but this is not a problem at the rhône glacier, as every year, they dig a grotto into the glacier which you can enter. they also installed lights, usually hidden behind ice, which amplify the bluish tones. this was the perfect place to take a photo for this topic, in my opinion. and here it is! please click the photo to get a larger version:
